Ahmad Sakhavarz was born in Iran in 1945, Sakhavarz is a self-taught artist. His works can be found in private and corporate collections across North America and exhibited in numerous museums across Canada and the United States. Several such exhibitions include Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto. The Canadian Museum of nature In Ottawa, and The Leigh Yawkey Art Museum in Wisconsin. Drawing, Painting and sculpting are the vehicles Sakhavarz weaves his imagination into an art form. The connecting line, though, among his diverse creations, is his quest for understanding the human condition and the world we live in. At times these thoughts are reflected in the satirical narrative of cartoons, and sometimes they manifest in lyrical manipulation of the human form to convey subtle nuances of some fleeting moments in life. Decades of working as an award-winning political cartoonist have given sakhavarz the ability to express himself through his lyrical sculptures and images. Working in the tense environment of newsrooms and going through political turmoil, revolution, and social upheavals provides him with the ability to give shape to ideas.
